The Book of Images attributed to the sage Sahl ibn Bishr al Israili, commonly reffered to as Zael, Zoel, Zohel, Zahel, Sahel or Zevel, is one of the most influential books on image magic. It contains the magical uses of the names of the angels of the astral bodies with their seals, which were largely imported in magical literature, appearing in at least 15 texts to my knowledge, be it with their accompanying text or by themself, which I shall deal with in due time.
I am transcribing and translating a version of it, and will use this variant text for comparison and editing.
In the Darmstadt manuscript, it appears on fols 70r-74v (Liber Zaelis Philosophi de Imaginibus) all the seals in the original manuscript are in red cinnabar ink.
