This a debut article of a series of pentacles that can be be found in diverse manuscripts and scroll in a varying number of shapes, variants, numbers and contexts. It s never been called ”The Book of Pentacles”, but talking about them without any information about their origin would be cumbersome, so I ve adopted this expression for the sake of convenience.
In some of the latest manuscripts, these seals have been adapted and innovated to match the 72 angels of the Shemhamephoresh. I have 3 posts thus far analyzing 3 manuscripts:
BNF Lat.18510
Sometimes, they are associated with the 36 decans, sometimes are given in scroll form, sometimes are showed placed around a larger pentacle, including in the Greek manuscripts.
Below I will reproduce the 12 pentacles extracted pentacles from the Vadian Clavicle circle diagram (with many thanks to Joseph Peterson for providing me a large version of the file). Number 1 is center, numbers 2-9 are the peripheral pentacles in clockwise order and numbers 10-12 are the three pentacles below:
Pentacle 1
Oh yes, and please stop stealing my images to make crappy rings and etsy merch.
If you find this helpful, share it or consider becoming a patron, in order to keep this free resource going with as much new material as possible. Thank you.
